From 2018, CFO has been implementing an Integrated Early Childhood Development program including community-based ECD and parenting education in Rugarika Sector of Kamonyi District.
INEZA Nursery School is a pre-primary school for children aged 3-6 years old, based in Samuduha Village. Since its establishment, 431 children have attended 3 classes and benefited from learning through play and exploration in groups, with more opportunities to interact with other children and a variety of adults.
CFO organized training for nursery teachers and their assistants, equipped the ECD center with supplies and training materials, and supported ECD teachers to produce pedagogical guides for teaching. The organization also mobilized parents to build the ECD center itself.
For sustainability, CFO organized, trained, and mentored the ECD parents committee in ECD leadership for proper decision-making, ensuring the community takes ownership of the program.

To respond to children's needs, CFO emphasized putting parents at the center of caregiving through a parenting education program. Both parents (legal and/or biological) are primarily responsible for the child's nurturing care and protection.
In collaboration with Kigese Health Center, CFO organized training for 12 Friends of Families (FOFs, known as “Incuti z'Umuryango”) and 12 Community Health Workers (CHWs) as facilitators of weekly sessions for the Parenting Education Program.
435 families from six villages of Nyarubuye Cell have joined into 48 groups to learn about child development, handwashing, nutrition topics, and to adopt new positive behaviors.
